We caught up with Elizabet Caminade-Lavault who had just got back from a judging appointment in Cyprus. She was the only judge from Africa. Thank you Elizabet for the following interview.

On 20, 21 and 22 March 2015, I travelled to Cyprus and judged the Spring Weekend Shows.  Two National (CAC) and two international (CACIB) shows in Episkopi just outside Limassol  for the Cyprus Kennel Club. Over the three days I judged all 10 Groups (as per FCI listings) as well as Best In Show at the International Show on the 21st.March. As per FCI requirements a grading is awarded and a critique is dictated on each dog judged whilst in the ring. So in each ring there is a laptop, printer, secretary/translator as well as the Judge and Ring Steward.

There were seven judges in total, Mr. Erodotos Neofytou (President of the Cyprus Kennel Club), Mr. Chris Zeniou, Mr. Savvas Shiapanis and Mrs. Sonia Philippou-Kelveri from Cyprus.  Mr. Ronnie Tolson from Ireland. Mrs Elaine Ty from Philippines and yours truly. My Steward at the Friday and Saturday shows was the extremely efficient Mr Shaun Watson and on Sunday I was ably assisted by Mr Vasilis Aspromatis. The shows were well run, the overall quality of the dogs was pleasing and the people were wonderful. My Best In Show was a stunning Bichon Frise who was also runner up Supreme Champion at the end of the weekend – this is where all Best In Show winners compete against each other for the title of Supreme Champion.

The Supreme Champion was judged by Mr Erodotos Neofytou who awarded the title to a beautiful Hungarian Puli bitch from Sweden who has won over 60 Best In Show titles. I cannot thank Mr Erodotos Neofytou enough; he was the most unbelievably magnanimous host, nothing was too much trouble and he and his beautiful and charming partner Despoina Christoforou showed us the wonderful island of Cyprus in the week after the shows.
