FUN DOG JUMPING SHOW

This has been and was a great effort of all at the Kennel club. It was held in the ring near the veranda and great to see all sitting outside watching the jumping.

Hello Meryl, great to see you at Harare Kennel club!!

Quite a job going round the ring where even the handler Ursula
had to jump with Tara to get her to do the jumps..
Ursula should have had the best points!

helpers and timekeepers.
Under one of the young handlers
with her dog going over a jump and through the tire.

Above, right and under: This time a well trained dog Pippa.

Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting heaven and Earth. It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many splendid colours. Just this side of Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush, green grass.

Holly participated often in the shows at Kennel club and Jan Cashel had many a good time with her. Its now goodbye to this great dog of hers:

“I put my beautiful and special girl down on Wednesday.  Her pain was too high in between her moments of sleep.  I took her to be put down with Tones and Storm and Daisy.  She went peacefully.  I let Storm and Daisy see and smell her so that they knew that she was gone.  What is difficult now is the BIG HOLE in my life however I know that time will heal.  Sue and Len gave me a holly bush which I have planted outside my office window.   I had her from the moment she was born until I put her down - lucky me.”

'Gorilla Glue’

Hi jan cashel,

Today - I want to talk to you about a very serious emergency that is becoming more and more common. It is caused by what we call expandable water-activated glues. One common brand is called 'Gorilla Glue". This is a great product - works really well for gluing but is a disaster when ingested by dogs. This is a dog laying on his side - and that big round mass object (arrows) is the stomach full of glue. When the glue is ingested - it is activated and expands when in contact with water. It becomes a rock hard mass that cannot be digested - vomited or passed on. The only option is surgical removal. Some of the other common toxins and dangers to dogs include: antifreeze, grapes and raisins, food and gum sweetened with xylitol and human medications of all types - to name a few. Please be aware of your environment and protect your precious dog from unexpected emergencies. I hope this helps to keep your dog safe!

Until next time, Dr. Jon
