Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting heaven and Earth. It is called Rainbow Bridge because of its many splendid colours. Just this side of Rainbow Bridge there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush, green grass…..

The rest of the poem is in previous news letter I would think that all dogs, in this picture, have gone [Editor]

News:
Had a letter from Cindy Ordman and she is doing well after her operation and is now on her second lot of chemo. We all whish you well Cindy.

Accident Pippa & Dick: while traveling a truck with one of these big plastic water tanks suddenly dislodged and fell down. The truck braked instantly, resulting in a 6-car pile up. Pippa and Dick were car number 3 and were lucky to come out with bruises etc; the car was a write off.

Breed show at Goldfields;

About 110 dogs were entered. Not many people around, a few stalls with lots of lovely things to buy. I was lucky to find a special training collar, which I had seen coming from Germany. Saw the last 4 classes with some good-looking dogs. Open dog class only 3 entered and Open Bitch had 13 participating. Met up with the Warburtons, Colin Frankel and Judy spamer and Margaret. The enext day I went to see a breed survey with 11 dogs.  Amazing all passed their test, only 2 dogs would leave on command and only one dog was fantastic in its heelwork.

All Leigh Tarr’s shows 28 June have been cancelled I heard, while at the KCH Obedience show this weekend, and consequently all other shows during that weekend probably will also be cancelled.

Proposed future shows:

Hi jan cashel

Ever wonder why dogs chew on things? Even better, why do they chew on expensive things (like the $10,000 cherry wood dining set or the $150 pair of dress shoes or $250 purse)? Well...there are several reasons for dogs chewing on things.

1 Puppies and juvenile dogs learn about their environment by mouthing and gnawing on objects. Typically the targets are random, and may include shoes, books or bedposts. Investigational or "play-related" destructiveness of this kind is a normal behavior for a growing dog.

2 Some adult dogs chew out of boredom or because they are upset when "abandoned" by their owners each morning. In frenzied efforts to escape the house or find her owner, a dog of this persuasion will dig and chew at doorways, windowsills and curtains. She may also search for shoes, pillows, purses and other personal items to chew on.

3 Other dogs may chew because they have a nervous personality or they have some phobia. If your dog suffers from thunder phobia, she can cause dramatic damage to your house on stormy days.  In addition to thunder, your dog may develop fears of fireworks, wind, and a variety of other noises. Finally, dogs chew because it is "FUN".

The solutions to stop chewing will vary based on the dog and the reason for the chewing. But one simple time tested solution is to give them something to chew on. There are a number of excellent "chew toys" in the market. I like the Kong® brand toys, that are durable and strong. They come in a variety of sizes and shapes (you can even hide treats in many KONG toys).

You can get these toys on-line and in many stores. If you shop PetSmart, they have a large number of items on-Sale including toys, food, accessories, etc. For more information on the items on Sale, go to petsmart.com (if you enter your zip code they will even show the specials in your local store!) Ensure whatever chew toys you use are built to withstand a good chewing without breaking in dangerous pieces that your dog can choke on or get lodged in his intestinal tract.  Choose the right toys and your house will be a safe place for your shoes, chairs and your furniture.

Until next time...

P.S. One of our staff members even had his iPod Nano chewed by his dog. He loved his black iPod Nano, but his dog had the best of it. He has enough chew toys in hand now (and he put his new iPhone away as soon as he gets home)..

A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:"So I hear you're getting married?" "Yep!"

"Do I know her?" "Nope!" "This woman, is she good looking?" "Not really." "Is she a good cook?" "Naw, she can't cook too well." "Does she have lots of money?" "Nope! Poor as a church mouse." "Well, then, is she good in bed?" "I don't know." "Why in the world do you want to marry her then?" "Because she can still drive!".
